Tanimura & Antle, one of the nation's leading produce growers, is partnering with CHEP, the world's leading pallet and container pooling company, on a new pallet protection tool that reduces product and pallet damage.
The Pallet Dawg, developed with input from CHEP engineers by Raymond Corp., specifically addresses challenges suppliers and retailers have with damaged pallets in the supply chain by reducing hard contact with forklifts. CHEP is now offering its own Blue Guardian device to accomplish the same goal.
Both the Blue Guardian and the Pallet Dawg are frames with an energy-absorbing bumper that attach to the front of a forklift and redirect impact force away from where valuable product is located to the more durable center of the pallet. They work on all block or stringer pallets and are easily installed with no permanent modification to the forklift other than requesting a data plate change from the forklift manufacturer. 'The new CHEP program is an excellent solution to our product and pallet damage challenges, and we are committed to using them in our distribution centers. We expect to see continued reduction in product damage rates, as well as lower environmental impact,' said Eric Wexler, Vice President, Supply Chain Management at Tanimura & Antle.

We look forward to working with them and their partners to improve the way products move through the supply chain to the consumer,' said Tim Smith, Vice President of Business Development at CHEP USA.
